When Manel Harrabi moved to the Netherlands five years ago, she was looking for new challenges, personal growth, and the opportunity to broaden her horizons. She eventually found all of that at Moba. As a software developer, she works on complex machines, innovative technologies, and real-world engineering solutions. “Here, you have the freedom and flexibility to develop yourself.”

From Tunisia to the Netherlands

Technology has always been part of Manel’s story. She earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and later specialized in Automation. During her studies, software played an increasingly important role, and she soon discovered that programming was her passion. After graduating, she worked as a consultant across several industries, contributing to a variety of smaller-scale projects. Five years ago, shortly after the COVID period, she moved to the Netherlands. “I wanted to grow, experience the outside world, and take on a different kind of challenge.”

Discovering Moba
Manel first learned about Moba through a recruitment agency. After researching the company, she quickly became interested in what she found: complex technical products, opportunities to learn, and an environment where engineers can keep developing their skills. “I made my choice when I saw the Omnia egg grading machine. It was so grand, it was great! It was new to me, and I wanted to understand the process behind it.”

Building Something from the Start

When Manel joined Moba, the project she works on today was still in its early stages. Because of that, she had the opportunity to experience the entire development process from the ground up. She also immediately experienced a supportive working environment. Team members from different backgrounds worked closely together, sharing knowledge and helping each other move forward. “I’ve received a lot of support from the team. It’s interesting to see how a multidisciplinary team works together to find solutions.”

Combining Theory with Practice

One of the aspects Manel enjoys most about her role is seeing how software directly impacts a physical machine. The work goes beyond coding alone and involves collaboration with multiple disciplines. “Seeing how the software works on a physical machine is very rewarding.” Since joining Moba, she has learned new programming languages, experimented with new technologies, and continuously expanded her technical knowledge. “At Moba, you’re always working with something new. That means you can be creative and continue growing.” For Manel, that constant learning is what makes the job so rewarding. As an engineer, she appreciates being able to work on a broad range of technical challenges rather than being confined to a narrow specialty.

One of the biggest challenges in her work is introducing new technologies and helping others see their value. That requires technical expertise, communication, and teamwork. Fortunately, Moba encourages employees to explore ideas and experiment with new solutions. “You can always propose something new and try to implement it. There are not many companies where that is possible.” That freedom motivates her to keep learning, testing new approaches, and pushing technology forward.
