Your role
We’re looking for a Software Test Engineer for our Engineering Support department! Do you enjoy helping to ensure reliable software for our advanced machines? Do you enjoy testing machine controls, user interfaces, and the interfaces between software components? And do you go beyond simply checking whether individual functions work to also verify that the software and hardware together deliver the desired behavior? For almost 80 years, Moba has been creating total solutions for sorting, packing, and processing eggs that are sold all over the world. Over the years, Moba has grown into a global market leader with systems in 111 different countries, processing more than 1 billion eggs every day. From design, development, production, and installation to service, it all happens in Barneveld.
As part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you’ll work closely with software developers, system architects, and fellow test engineers. Starting with the development of user stories, you’ll contribute ideas regarding testability, acceptance criteria, and technical risks. You’ll translate these into a practical testing approach that includes manual and automated tests for user interfaces, APIs, and integration with the machine control system.
You set up test environments, investigate anomalies, and document findings in a reproducible manner. By working with software developers to automate regression tests and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines, you provide developers with rapid feedback on software changes. You discuss test results and remaining risks with the team, thereby supporting well-informed release decisions. Together, you improve test coverage, tooling, and processes, with the goal of delivering reliable and properly functioning machines to our customers.
A selection of our key activities:
• Work with developers and architects to evaluate user stories and software requirements and translate them into testable acceptance criteria, test plans, and test cases.
• Perform functional testing of user interfaces, machine visualizations, and control functions, including data exchange between the front end, back end, and machine control systems.
• In collaboration with software developers, develop, execute, and maintain automated UI and API tests, integration tests, and regression tests. Where possible, integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Set up and maintain test environments, test data, and simulations as needed.
• Analyze software defects and document them in a reproducible manner; discuss findings with developers and verify solutions through retests and regression tests.
• Document test results and provide the team with insight into test coverage, open findings, and remaining risks to support release decisions.
• Verify the interaction between software and hardware and assess performance and robustness against agreed-upon requirements, with attention to relevant quality standards.
• Take the initiative to improve the testing approach, test automation, and tooling, and make software quality an integral part of the development process from the very beginning.

Every three weeks, the R&D department organizes a knowledge session led by one of the colleagues, providing time for new insights, discussing improvements, or presenting a new concept to get everyone on board.
What we ask of you
- A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field;
- Knowledge of software testing (ISTQB/TMap) and experience with test cases;
- Interest in machine control and mechatronics; experience with industrial IoT is a plus;
- An interest in test automation, web and API testing; experience with Cypress, Testing Library, or Postman is a plus;
- Programming or scripting knowledge, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python; familiarity with REST, GraphQL, or OData is a plus;
- Structured test documentation and defect tracking, traceable to requirements and results;
- Familiarity with Agile and CI/CD; experience with GitLab, Linux, or Docker is a plus.
