Your role

We are looking for a Cost Engineer! This is a unique growth role in which you, as Moba's first Cost Engineer, will build the cost calculation discipline from the ground up. As the team grows, your responsibilities will expand. As a Cost Engineer at Moba, you will play a key role in creating cost transparency and ensuring competitiveness within our product portfolio. Do you have technical expertise and business acumen, and would you like to contribute to strategic decisions in design, production, and sourcing? Then we would like to invite you for an introductory meeting!

For almost 80 years, Moba has been creating total solutions for sorting, packing, and processing eggs that are sold all over the world. Over the years, Moba has grown into a global market leader with systems in 111 different countries, processing more than 1 billion eggs every day. From design, development, production, and installation to service, it all happens in Barneveld.

As a Cost Engineer, you play a key role in ensuring comprehensive cost transparency and competitiveness within our product portfolio. You are the founder of the cost engineering function within Moba: you set up processes, methods, and tooling, thereby building a solid foundation for a growing discipline. You will develop cost models, analyze design changes, and support data-driven decisions that balance functionality, quality, and costs in order to influence portfolio, design, production, purchasing, and logistics choices.

This role is ideally suited to someone with experience as a cost engineer who combines technical insights with commercial thinking and the ambition to develop the cost engineering discipline within Moba.

A selection of the activities:

• Developing integrated cost calculation and design-to-cost competencies;
• Setting up and organizing the cost engineering discipline within Moba, including defining the structure, working methods, and objectives for the discipline;
• Developing processes and standardized methods to ensure consistency in cost calculation and integrated cost reporting;
• Using industry-standard tools (e.g., FACTON, aPriori, or similar) to support these processes;
• Developing standardized reports (templates/tools) to assess the current situation and compare costs;
• Increasing cost awareness in the design process and helping teams make better decisions at an early stage;
• Analyzing actual costs and identifying initiatives and opportunities for cost optimization of our portfolio.

Supporting product development projects:

• Provide early-stage cost feedback to support strategic and architectural choices that support realistic cost targets;
• Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing engineering during the development process to assess the costs of design and production choices;
• Support make-or-buy, sourcing, and investment decisions.
